Thank you to all volunteers, athletes and spectators for making our 2022 Club Championships such a great success on Sunday. Results and photos from the day can be viewed below. Thank you to Alastair McIntyre for being photographer and supplying some great shots.
We had plenty of great performances across many age groups. In the U11s Hamish Black threw a potential new U11 club record in the shot put with a throw of 5.42m. Piper Jackson also performed well in the shot with a throw of 4.97m which is 2cm short of the club record. Isla Milligan continues to show future star potential with a broad range of strong performances. Isla came close to taking the U11 club records in both the 200m and 600m! There were many great performances in the High Jump, an event that not all our athletes practice routinely. Ricco Begnor added 8cm to his previous best jumping 1.44m. Matthew Copland, who had a fantastic day, added 11cm to his High Jump best clearing a final height of 1.36m. In the U15 boys it was the sprinters who surprised themselves in the High Jump with Luca Stewart clearing 1.44m and Nathan Scott 1.37m. Abbie Cairns added 5cm to her previous best with a jump of 1.50m. And finally, Ruth Kirk pulled it out of the bag in the 400m with a huge 7.8s improvement on her PB!
Each category winner and runner up will receive recognition at our annual awards night at the Carlton Hotel, Prestwick on Friday 25th November. Please save the date if you haven’t already. Details of how to purchase tickets will be communicated in the near future.
Special thanks to Ian Hutton and Conor Rennie for being the main organisers of this event. Also a big thank you goes to our friends at Kilmarnock Harriers for supplying some of their excellent graded officials.
